Unseen Lithuania
Lithuanian landscape, which has been carved by ice fields, tramped by drifters and aggressors, injured by wars, formed and nurtured by many generations, is equal in all over the world. Especially when you look at it from above.
Fields of rape have spread in Lithuania after the restoration of Independence. Lithuanian rape is of high quality, and is suitable for production of honey, oil and ecological fuels.
The forest of Rūdiškės. Two lakes left after an Ice-age look like little eyes closing before falling asleep.
A little island in Lake Sartai.
The international transportation centre of Klaipėda harbor.
Klaipėda originated at the harbor and it still remains the most
important place in the city.
The castle of Kaunas is considered to be the oldest stone fortress in Lithuania.
Only one third of it survived until the present day, as the rest was destroyed by the river Neris.
The river Nevėžis beside Piepaliai.
Trakai island castle is a masterpiece of Lithuanian medieval defensive architecture. Erected back in XVI century, it served as the Residence of the Grand Dukes.
Mingė also goes by the name “The Lithuanian Venice”, because boats must be used to visit neighbors.
I hope these photos will be a good gift for people who love Lithuania. And if you wander to any faraway land of the world in your mind while looking into these photos, please do not forget this is really Lithuania. Unseen Lithuania.
